The Power of Now

Hello, my fellow bloggers!

After some weeks off of here I decided that I finally have something I would like to write about.
Today I would like to share with you some very interesting book I started reading a few days ago which consumed me entirely, which is The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle.

The reading of this has been a bit of an eye-opening experience to say the least. It gives you a new perspective on life itself. Basically, it teaches you how to live in the present, to not worry about the future and to let go of the past, which many of us can't really do. The author explained in a quite sophisticated manner that we, as human beings, are trapped in our mind. And that we wrongfully identify ourselves as our mind, without listening to our body and to the outside world. Our mind is always on the run, it's always preoccupied with thinking about what we are going to do next without realizing the importance of staying in the moment. Or it goes back to past experiences that can be really traumatic. Although many of you may think that it's total nonsence, just you try and pay attention to what it is that keeps your mind busy. You never think about what you are doing right now! Let's say you want to reach something great, but to do so you have to go through some things that don't bring you much joy so all your mind keeps doing is drifting away to the place where you think you will be happy. You don't enjoy where you are. As soon as you reach what you wanted, your mind creates a new target so you live your life being dissatisfied. You exist, but you are not really present. Also Eckhart Tolle says that your mind creates a lot of fears basing itself in the past situations to prevent similar actions to happen. This way, your own head impedes you in fear of self destruction.

Needless to say, I really recommend you to check it out because there's a lot more to know!
