You decide what's fashionable

Hello!

Do you follow fashion trends? Do you spend extra time on trying to look slick and put together? Well, we've all been there, trying to make a good impression with our clothes. But do you have to worry about your look every day of your life? I say hard no.

First of all, fashion is overrated, in my humble opinion. I'm not trying to offend anyone, there are people who do love it, but that's just not my cup of tea. Sometimes you see articles like "this is a fashion trend you have to follow this summer!", you click on them and you just wonder "what the hell is this? I wouldn't wear it even to take out the garbage!", but apparently you'll look stylish if you do. They frequently look absurd and always are so expensive.

Sometimes you see some fashion trends that are very popular and remember that someone months back already wore that item and was laughed at and called an idiot. Then miraculously some celebrity wore that thing and it became iconic and people would praise that celebrity for being a trendsetter. It's just so hypocritical. Nevertheless, all of those trends are temporary and I am ok with that.

Learning English is important

Hi, that's me again!

I know you've seen my posts a lot in the past two days and I'm sorry, but hey, I'm just trying to catch up. Today we'll talk a little about the importance of speaking English.

We all know how crucial this language is. If you speak it, you easily can communicate with everyone in the world. Or if you are in another country and you need something to be done, you can resolve the situation without having to rely heavily on someone's help. For example, my best friend doesn't speak English and she always says how bad it is. Whenever she needs to speak to some foreigner and she doesn't know how to do it, she feels helpless and usually this kind of situationes leaves her being misunderstood.

In Western and Central Europe basically everyone speaks English because there are no borders, a lot of people come and go to neighboring countries. It's easier to travel to other regions of Europe if you have a UE citizenship. In comparison, my home country and other post-soviet countries do not have a lot of tourists because they are more closed and respectively people there do not speak English that often.

In addition, practically every job now requires an employe to have at least a basic knowledge of this language. So go learn it! It will be beneficial in the future!

Social media is a scary place

Hello again!

Social media? We're all familiar with it whether we like it or not. You're probably thinking right now "stop blathering, I already know what you are about to say", but bear with me for a second.

Like any other person in the world I have been encountering struggles throughout my whole life, but never have I thought that social media would be one of them. However, recently I discovered how social media really affects you.

I was going through a major shift in my life to which I didn't know how to react. I was questioning myself whether all of the plans I had were going to work out. The fact of unknown was so scary to me I was trying to run away from it and the place I went was — yes, you guessed it right — social media. To not think about my own life I chose to spend my days scrolling my timeline like there was no tomorrow. By constantly doing it I noticed some change. My mental health was suffering from seeing all of the flawless lives others have although I was fully aware that it's probably not true, but you can't just switch off your mind, can you? So basically I just constantly was seeing triggers that made me think about my so imperfect life even more. Why my life is so different? Why is it that I'm always the only one that's having problems? etc. etc. At that point, I was having a full blown mental breakdown. Each and every time I logged in on any of my social media accounts I was having almost a panic attack. Then I decided to leave.

I decided that I was going to do something useful or something that was going to help me grow as a person rather than just sit in my room and whine. The next few weeks I focused on making myself feel better and eventually I did. Rather than observing others I tried to make something out of myself. I was feeling so much better because finally I had something under control. Like great band, Twenty One Pilots, said in their song 'Migraine': "I begin to assemble what weapons I can find, 'Cause sometimes to stay alive you gotta kill your mind".

Social media is just a waste of time, LITERALLY. Go to your Instagram account and click on 'Your Activity'. You will be surprised how much time you spend on your phone.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you soon!

Everyone can help save the earth!

Welcome back!

Today's topic of the blog will be something that's been on my mind for quite some time now. We've seen our world going through irreversible changes like recent Amazon rainforest wildfires or any other cataclysm, you name it. The human race has been abusing of natural resources for years, decades and centuries now to the point that we start seeing clearly that mother nature can't take this anymore — she's had enough! The number of trees in the world is decreasing rapidly and the amount of carbon dioxide in the air is increasing! Luckily, there are people, young people, who truly care about the planet and are willing to help change the situation.

What started as a joke on reddit page of the most subscribed Youtuber turned out to be a mission of a salvation! In May of this year there were memes on Pewdiepie´s subreddit that encouraged MrBeast to plant 20 million trees to celebrate him hitting 20 million subscribers on Youtube.  MrBeast is a big fan of Pewdiepie and helped him gain subscribers in his "fight" with T-Series to reach 100 million subscibers first and remain the biggest Youtuber in the world. After all that, Pewdiepie´s fans considered MrBeast "saint". No wonder, memes about him frequently appeared in most subscribed Youtuber´s videos.

This past October 25, MrBeast posted a video on his channel titled "Planting 20,000,000 Trees, My Biggest Project Ever!". Youtuber and his team themselves planted 2000 trees in one day and then he announced the launch of the campaign called TeamTrees which is aimed to raise 20 million dollars for Arbor Day Foundation who will be planting all of those trees in the next 3 years starting January 1, 2020. 1 dollar is equivalent of 1 tree, so anyone can help! So far, they've raised more than 14 million dollars. Even Elon Musk donated 1 million dollars and I honestly can't get over it! See how massive this is?!

This whole thing makes me think that humanity still has a chance for better future and the fact that this idea came from meme society, aka my favorite society, cracks me up. It actually made me rethink my lifestyle and what I can do to help. One of the first things I did is tried to reduce the use of plastic in my everyday life and eat less meat. Small things count too, right?

Anyways, let's leave it here and I hope you have a great day!

Hello there!

Welcome!

Blogging... Never in a billion years would I have thought I would blog. About my experiences and interests? Woah, I have to be outspoken and all of that? Well, that's a challenge which I am willing to take up. Firstly, I never considered myself a good writer. Secondly, I never feel like I have something worth saying. But I guess that's what we're doing now, huh?

Let's start from little introduction so you know I mean business ;)
My name is Kateryna, I'm 20 years old Ukrainian who is just trying to figure what life is all about. I also happen to be a student of Spanish philology in Polish university who is writing this blog in English. Funny, isn't it? All of the languages are now mixed in my head, but nobody said it was going to be easy.

I want to keep it brief, not boring and lighthearted so it won't be a burden to read to anyone interested in getting to know me. Let's consider this blog as an outlet for my thoughts with a tiny bit of humor applied!

Glad you chose to give me a few minutes of your day by reading this. I hope you find it entertaining and I'll see you down the road!

Yours truly,
Kateryna :)
